Just had this email from Orange (this is the first that I have heard of it and my Livebox is permanently switched on) :-
Hello
We've not been able to complete the test to see if your line can support digital TV. For us to be able to do this, you'll need to plug in your Livebox and leave it on for 10 consecutive days.
If your line can support digital TV, we'll then send you the set-top box so you can get watching - but either way, we'll let you know.
If you need any more help, just give us a call on 0844 873 8586. There'll be someone here to help you all day, every day.
Thanks
Customer Support
Your call will cost up to 5p/min from a BT line, or 4p/min via Wireless & Talk. Charges from other networks may vary and calls might be recorded.

Further to the speed upgrade they never informed me was coming (thread here), I've now received the same email about Digital TV.
Surprise, surprise, I never made a digital TV request and secondly, my Livebox is on 24/7 anyway (barring the odd requirement for a restart)! Not sure I'm bothered too much about the service anyway as (IIRC) it will force me to change one of my desktop PCs to wireless - and I bet Orange won't supply me with a free wireless dongle or card for that!
Besides, won't digital TV add to my download stats (i.e. be counted in my fair usage) or am I misunderstanding that? If it does, it's not going to be very appealing.

Anyone able to answer this one for me please? Perhaps everyone thought it was a rhetorical question!
Not very appealing then, what with the FUP being stingy. And besides, by the time Orange finally roll out Digital TV (if they ever do - when's it due now?), I'll probably have moved to o2 (now Sky) (my contract runs out in 2 or 3 months)!
Oh and on a slightly related topic, another question I've being trying to get confirmation on is:
Since I'm on ADSL2+ am I right in saying "I've" been LLU'd and therefore the BT speedtester won't work for me now?
Interestingly, the o2 (now Sky) site says I'm estimated as being capable of up to 7 meg which is close to double what I'm getting now. I know the key word is "estimate" but I can't wait to find out, especially as it'll cost me a little over a third of the cost of Orange as I have an o2 (now Sky) mobile.

If you check in your router statistics make a note of the downstream attenuation then go HERE and put it in the required field it will give you another rough estimate of what you will get on proper ADSL2+, this link will also tell you will also need your downstream attenuation to calculate it.
