I've just spoken to Orange who say that they will clear the tag on my line in 7 days so that I can switch broadband provider. I asked the lady don't I need a code? She said I didn't I just have to wait 7 days & the line will be cleared automatically. Is this correct?

You need to get back to Orange straight away and request a MAC. They are obliged to give you this within 5 days. The MAC will allow you to make a seamless transition to another IP with minimum downtime. The MAC request will cancel the termination you have just requested provided that a Cease Request has not already been issued by Orange. So if you want a MAC from Orange you need to do this sooner rather than later.
Thanks Jerry for your help. I'm not sure i,ve provided enough information. My broadband with Orange was cancelled 14 months ago 20/8/06 to be exact. I've been with Virgin ever since but want to switch to BT who told me Orange still had a mark on my line since August 2006!
Since my original post I noticed on a previous thread somebody say that if your service has already been cancelled that you just have to wait for your line to clear. Do you still need a code if Orange have confirmed my a/c was canelled in 2006?
