I received a letter yesterday from them saying that I owe them £17.62 for broadband and if I didn't pay by 2nd of October, they would take legal action.
Now all this stems from me leaving my 18mth contract which I started in Nov 2008 and left in June 2009 because of the poor service I was receiving. I was a customer since the freeserve/wanadoo days.
I received a MAC code on 19th June and by 30th June, I was connected up to Virgin Media who's service has been first class!
I will send a letter back tomorrow, first class recorded so I can have proof they signed for it, and give them a copy of an email from Jonathon from the Response Team who clearly states that because of the problems I was having, I wasn't being held to the contract.
I was also told over the phone that I didn't have to pay.
Now I am not going to pay for something I was unhappy with and why should I? The service I received that month and even in May was shocking. That email should end it.
Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't Orange supposed to send written reminders and if so, then how come I have never received anything?
Surely you can't just jump the gun and threaten take legal action without reminders as well as reasonable notice that you are intending to take legal action.
Less than a week's notice to pay during a postal strike is hardly appropriate behaviour from Orange!
Funny how 3 months later, they decide they want to take action.
