I want to move from Orange and have got as far as getting the MAC code.
My new supplier needs to see proof (paper or electronic) that I "own" the landline before they can get the switch process started. Fair enough.
Unfortunately I do not have anything on paper from Orange, any emails or any screen in the Orange user web portal which shows my landline number. The nearest I can get is a screen shot with the second line number used via the port on the Livebox (the old style "wedge" shaped one).
I cannot face calling the offshore support line.
Any suggestions where I can get some proof I "own" my landline number?
NB: I pay Orange for the landline (who, I presume, pay BT who really "owns" it).
I've never heard of that request before......I wonder how they think you obtained the M_A_C if the line supplying ADSL isn't connected to your property
I'm moving to Andrews & Arnold. UK based, no offshore call centre.
They will be more than twice as expensive to what I'm paying now but quality of service is paramount. Lets face it Orange is the "Ryan Air" of the broadband world
Andrews & Arnold are wary of moving lines without having "more than enough" evidence that the person asking for the line to be moved is actually the owner.
The way I got proof was to make an out going call on the line (not on the VoIP "second line") and then login into the Orange portal and look at the billing for calls made so far this month. Because a call has just been made it shows up under the true land line line number. Print that to a PDF, email to your new provider as proof and it's all systems go.
