Im suprised you said that Elhana seeing 9 out of 10 Orange agents will insist he does that anyway.
And no John of course not if i suggest something it isn't for the fun of it. But knowing Oranges script he will be asked to do it even if he tells them he has has a pain in his stomach believing it will solve it and seeings hes ahead of them and already done it will save time and money on the call im just being practical and honest.

If they were thinking about it logically then they wouldn't do that, it's more out of desperation IMO. Doing "something" often seems better than admiting you're not sure what to do next.
Anyway TCP/IP resetting is towards the end of diagnostics and possible solutions for not getting webpages. A connection is required to be able to get to that point really.

You and i know they ain't trained to think logically they are told what to say, but that aside the man is desperate and Orange are not prepared to help him and its more likely at their end its a shame.,but thanks for your output.

(Just for the record: the second command wasn't introduced until XP SP2.)
But the most surprising statement in that thread is:

The reason i sugested not using netsh int command is that it can corrupt the firmware of a wireless router permanantly. It will not happen in all cases. But precaution is better than cure (esp. since 80% routers get "fried" by using this command)....
You and I know that but do the people who produce the Tech Support 'scripts'/Knowledge Base?
Knowledgebase clearly puts those commands in the no webpages process as I mentioned above. They're nothing to do with a 721 error unless they don't check to see if it's actually connected first.

They don't even know the command doesn't work on Win2k:

and neither do their best agents..
Winsock I wasn't sure about on 2k but I've used TCP/IP reset on 2k a few times with no trouble. Well I did query about the router firmware thing, it doesn't make much sense and I'd never heard anything like that before.
