Its ok i found that i am on the Woolston Exchange. Pretty obvious really!!
Anyone else on the Woolston exchange experiencing SLOW connections recently??
Another thing, what exactly is LLU and would this have affected the change??? Paul
Maybe if enough of us post the POOR results someone might actually take some action... It's interesting that since reducing my line rating that the transfer rate has also dropped! That would seem to rule the line out surely?
A crude estimate of what "my" line is capable of is 8192kbps (kilo bits per second).
Crude it may be, but actual is considerably slower at between 1500kbps & 2000kbps.... Not to mention fact the same line with the same equipment but on ADSL Max was running at 6000kbps! (which incedently is the estimated speed on the BT Speed Test site) I think there's a MAJOR problem with Orange LLU.

I just found this....."Actual line speed will be determined during the first 10 days of use, after which time the highest stable rate possible will be set."......anyone know anything about this? Would this explain why after 1 day of my 8Mb upgrade I suddenly got a rise in connection speed? Am I just dreaming that one day I will finally experience an 8Mb connection?? LOL Paul

Thats correct, and during this period you may experience a number of disconnections. You should not be able to report any of these fluctuations during this testing period as they are not regarded as faults. The system will endeavour to establish the most stable connection based on a number of factors such as Noise, Attenuation, Quality of Line, etc.

Are you sure that this applies to LLU?
Can anyone explain the difference between Max and LLU?
Ok, So now im on day 3 of the upgrade, the connection seemed faster so I did a speed test and got 3Mb. This is the best I have had so far. I immediately repeated the test and got this.

I don't know about LLU. Definately applies to ADSLMax. As there was no mention of LLU in your post I wrongly assumed you to be on ADSLMax
I've finally worked it out! Orange is giving us all a chance to re-live the early days when Broadband first hit the UK! Slow speeds, connection droppping out and total lack of customer service... It's so obvious now!
In case your wondering what prompted me to say that here's my "latest" speed test for my 8Mb "upgraded" connection... Yes, it really does say "525.59 Kbps download"
As far as I know the 10 day training period does not apply to LLU, it takes a while for the system to show the migration to complete and until it is faults can't be logged but there is no mention of a training period what so ever.

One's BT's system the other's Orange's, quite a lot is known about ADSL Max and how it works but Orange LLU is somewhat mysterious as very little hard facts are known about the system such as training if any, any data profile settings, what it does when an odd low sync rate is hit, how long it takes to move the data profile up after a slow connection, or even if it works in this way at all.
