It's not the actual speed you get on the test socket that's important, it's the downstream sync rate. This is what tells you if the wiring is at fault. A big jump means it probably is, where a small jump of a 200kbps or so means it's generally ok.
The profiling system works in a way that connecting to the test socket shouldn't cause your speed to immediately increase as it takes time for the system to detect it as stable and change the profile. Can take from a few hours to 3 days so the jump you noticed was likely just the system increasing the profile anyway.
As the speed has already gone over the profile limit you were on before the bras profile isn't stuck and is acting normally.
If the sync rate drops below 3424, or very close to it then the system will reduce the profile again. It's something to watch out for in future if speeds get low again. First check the profile on a BT test and see what that is at, after that check the downstream to see what that is showing, if it fluctuates a lot that's why you'll keep seeing varying profiles being applied in order to maintain stability.
