ok quick update. nothing has changed Orange have sent out another BT engineer who tested my line and found no issue. have had several responses from faults team one being there is to much traffic, that there are to many people on my exchange and its slow and theres nothing they can do. i have spoken to supervisors but no managers yet. all the tests etc still havent brought anything to light and to be honest i never think they will as i have been promised things that have never happened. they said almost two weeks ago a new ip profile would be assigned to me which never happened. they also said that there was no problem yet i still get really bad connections. i have spoken to johnathan who put a message on here and would advise not to. if anyone knows the phone number or email address of any Orange management it would be grately appreciated. have tried to be understanding and now just want to get back to normal without having to check my connection speed Three times a day for someone to say theres not a fault.
ok another thing i have just run a BT speed test and now the screen i used to get has changed and it doesnt ask for my username anymore either. but i have noticed on the speedtest.net site that the isp its on is cable & wireless not seen this before on any other people problems any help would be great. getting my connection reduced to 2mbps as well cause they think that will help but i wont hold my breathe lol
been getting this kind of result for weeks now (most of the time its worse). orange have said BT has finally found a fault but has been four days and still no change.
just been onto the same knows site to see if there any know issues with my exchange and Orange are no longer on there as an llu it used to be on there so for what ever reason has been pulled. my exchange is denburn in aberdeen any info on this change would be great got a phone call from Orange tonight and will be askin them tonight any way. but so far the teams i have spoken to have not been much use to be honest. its taken a lot of phone calls to get this problem fixed its good that theres a fault been found but BT and Orange need a better way to look at finding fault and not gettin a customer to run the same tests at least ten times
The speed test has completed on test server speedtester1.speedtester.BT.com for user 01224******and you have downloaded a 1.7Mb file at a speed of
708kilo bits per second (Kbps), your service bandwidth will have been quoted to you in kilo bits per second.
Your IP address is **.***.**.***, your browser is reported as being Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 and is running on Windows XP.
BT would regard the speed ranges shown below as normal service:
For 250kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250kbps.
For 500kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500kbps.
For 1000kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000kbps.
For 2000kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000kbps.
You may now disconnect from the speed test account (click disconnect in your internet connection window) and if you wish to regain normal access to the internet please re-connect to your ISP using your usual username and password.
Please note that test results may vary according to varying traffic in the network. If you continue to experience slower throughput when logged in to your ISP, this may be due to a slow internet site or high traffic levels beyond the BT Wholesale Network. Please report this situation to your ISPs helpdesk.
Please visit FAQ section if you are unable To understand the test results.
this is my results better than normal has gone up so maybe they are sorting the issue as we speak its still slow though my ip profile has been reduced to 2mbps to try and sort problem but will be asking to get it increased tonight when i speak to them. do you know why the llu on my exchange has changed from having Orange on it to now now having it???
think this test is weird because i am not logged into the test user username and i have not been. i feel i have been very patient with Orange with this issue but its time it was sorted any help would be great
I think you are accessing a different part of the service.
You should see results like these :-
Quote:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 352 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 384 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 135 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 117 kbps
i used to have that til my porfile was reduced down to 2mbps it very strange as i said. i will put my details back into the modem and see if that makes a difference but my tests results have been like that since last monday
I reckon you might have been put on a 2Mb fixed connection that's why it's a different screen.
These are the fixed connections quoting from your post above :
Quote:
For 250kbps End Users speeds between 50 - 250kbps.
For 500kbps End Users speeds between 100 - 500kbps.
For 1000kbps End Users speeds between 200 - 1000kbps.
For 2000kbps End Users speeds between 400 - 2000kbps.
and borednow the noise on the line is massive look at the 20meg for at the noise atinuations and tell me 240 isnt high. im suprised hes getting a connection

That's 24.0dB and it's attenuation not SNRM.
Downstream SNRM is 10.4dB which is why there's a connection
I think you need to ask your supervisor for a refresher course on analysing router stats.
