I have been with Tiscali Broadband for a number of years, my only complaint being that I was often disconnected.
Now I have left them I am having major problems. I rang and said that I wanted to terminate my contract and obtain a MAC code. They were very friendly, I received the MAC code two days later, and was disconnected from Tiscali a week after that, and used PAYG for 4 days before being connected to Orange.
I owed Tiscali for one week, but they billed me for a month, wouldn't answer e.mails and web site messages, so I cancelled my Direct Debit and told them I would happily pay for the week I owed them. Several e.mails changed hands which proved they don't read complaints, another full months bill arrived and a threatening letter.
Many more e.mails have changed hands - they are telling me I am still connected to them.....that if I am connected to Orange it was Orange's job to cancell my account with Tiscali.....that it is BT's job to cancel my account with Tiscali...... and that they will keep billing me until my account is closed. It's a nightmare ! I have e.mailed proof I am with Orange, posted them reams of printed proof, sent them the chque for my final week, but they still insist I am with them.
Looking forward to them taking me to court, but not so keep on having my name blackened with credit agencies.
Just to be sure you may want to call BT and ask them which provider has the broadband on your line, orange or tiscali. Least you'd know one way or the other then.
Thanks for that - it seemed a simple fact that if I can connect through Orange and not through Tiscali, then I am with Orange. But obvioulsy nothing is simple.
However.... I made a complaint to ISPA two days ago -

and today a very decent man rang from Tiscali and is looking into it, and promises to sort it out in the next few days. His assumption (and I can't comment technically) is that Orange did not use the MAC code to transfer my broadband service, they "piggy backed it" which means that Tiscali think there service is still active. There is a slight problem that if Tiscali now cancel my account, it will cut off the Orange service as well.
Now that wouldn't be funny
