Evening all, this is my first post - no doubt the answers to my questions are here already, somewhere, but it's all a bit baffling so I'm just going to post my query ....
I'm about 450m from the Yealmpton exchange on Devon. Orange tell me I should be good for 7.5mbps, but I typically average around 2-3meg. speedtest.net just returned the following;
2.4mbps download, 0.25mbps upload, ping 43ms
I've just checked my ADSL stats (this is all new to me). I think my line is in good shape (?) .....
thanks Del, but that link is to a thread with 44 pages! I'm browsing it now. Are you saying that my problem could be sorted by Orange (if they chose to)? I think so, but where do I start? Sounds like phoning Orange is totally impractical unless you have alot of free time. What's your reading of my line stats BTW? thanks & regards

You're on a BTw IPStream 8meg connection not a 20meg LLU connection which is what this thread is all about.
The problem you'll get is general congestion which is suffered by many on your type of connection , especially between 6pm and midnight. If you try a speed test during the day you'll get a far better result.

Download speedachieved during the test was - 2888 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8096 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7000 Kbps
What do you reckon about those?
I'm happy to take this discussion somewhere else as I appear to be on the wrong thread. Not sure which thread though - basically I'm connected to an exchange that is still full of exclusively BT kit, but my ISP is Orange. I have Home Ultra which bangs on about 20meg etc., but clearly that's not relevant to me as I'm not in a proper Orange area. Any suggestions about where to post, TIA

Well it certainly looks like congestion. Your router is syncing at more or less maximum with the correct IP Profile for the sync speed.
From the stats you posted earlier your line is OK.
Unfortunately the only solution is that you need to make yourself a nuisance with those Indians.
