Here's a connection example taken from another forum :-
Quote:
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 853 / 2,507
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]: 0.00 / 0.00
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.0 / 16.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 40.0 / 66.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7.0 / 8.0
I know the stats above are from an o2 (now Sky) ADSL2+ connection. The 66dB attenuation is a little more than yours and it's a very stable line...the router has an uptime of >32days.
Get Orange to put you back on G.DMT with a default 6dB Target SNR and you'll get a decent reliable throughput.
ok i phoned Orange and asked them if they would do that bordnow but they said no.
Just kept geting your line can only handle 2.5mbps ,afterwhich i lost it with them then they tryed to spue lies to me but they did'nt count on me knowing what they were telling me.
theytryed to also tell me that every time you connect to the internet your ip address will change,so i said in that case it should ofchanged 3 time that morning after the computer was witched on and off,but no it hass'nt so don't lie to me,they went qiuet for about 10 secs, also asked them why it was changing sync speed on the night, when the computer is not used, they would't say anything, and again they tryed to come out with coking bu**s**t,but that did'nt work either, cause i told them the livebox is left on 24/7 so it's not me!!!!!
After been on the phone i switched the livebox off and left it for about 40 mins then turned back on and now this what it's stating
ADSL firmware version : A2pBT009c1.d17d
Connection mode : ADSL2+
Type : Fast
Noise margin (dB) : 10.1
Attenuation (dB) : 59.5
Attainable download rate (kbps) : 3536
ADSL status : Connected [0]
Downstream Upstream
Rate (kbps) 3257 605
these setting's has been giving a pushthrough of 2.8 mbps all the time
so much for YOUR LINE CAN ONLY HANDLE 2.5 MBPS
What a bunch of tit's they are!!!
If you're re-synching the router then do it between 9am and 12 noon.
At this time of year if it re-synchs between 3pm and 12 midnight you'll get a low synch speed because of electrical noise interference from mainly street lights but now also those dreaded flashing christmas lights.
Other things that can affect SNR and re-synchs after dark are those PIR-operated halogen security lights.
it's already plugged in the test socket allways just so i know there's no other interfearance on the line
Can you try running RouterstatsLite or Routerstats for 24 hours ? Your SNRM doesn't seem to change but I reckon you may be suffering from spikes of noise.
RouterstatsLite is the slimmed down version and is good enough for SNRM and Synch monitoring. Both are free downloads from here :-
hi bordnow tryed running this program can't seem to get anything to work on it.
